A bit about Paul R

Between 2017 and 2020, I gave chess lessons to a strong adult club player and his teenage son. During this period, both achieved notable successes in international and domestic chess tournaments. Since September 2022, I have been working as a mathematics tutor for another tutor agency. For the last three years, I have been tutoring maths and physics, with over 300 hours’ experience. The majority of my pupils are studying for GCSE or SQA National 5. I use the interactive approach to tutoring, whereby the student is given a problem to solve. I then provide guidance or hints as required, before going through the solution with the student. The teaching style is adjusted according to the needs of the student. Lessons are normally 1 hour long. Since a young age, maths and physics have been my favourite subjects and I am currently in my 2nd year of studies in a Master of Physics course with Open University. I have also played chess at full international level, representing Scotland in the European Team chess championships. I specialise in tutoring maths and physics for GCSE and SQA National 5. I help students to prepare for exams with confidence, by filling in their knowledge gaps and improving exam techniques. The lessons are structured and adjusted to meet each student's individual tuition needs.
