A bit about Hettie

I am a fully qualified teacher with 10 years’ experience teaching and tutoring children aged 6-19. I have taught the National Curriculum across Primary and the Humanities. I have volunteered with the national charity, ‘The Wave Project’, over the last four years and really enjoy working with children from all backgrounds and abilities.

I have consistently been commended on my rapport with my students. My teaching style is calm and gentle with students feeling at ease within my lessons and safe and confident to ask questions and for advice.   I take great care and pride in the planning and delivery of the lessons I teach, ensuring that there is something for everyone to benefit from within my lessons.

I have always enjoyed learning about the cultures, countries and religions of others. I developed this interest throughout my schooling by visiting France, USA, the Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand, and Fiji. I also enjoy being outdoors and active through sports such as rugby, snowboarding, surfing, swimming and walking. I volunteer regularly with The Wave Project to satisfy my love for helping people.

When I was at Primary school, I had an amazing, kind and fun teacher- she made me love learning. When I went to secondary school, I had a teacher who was not so nice and made me feel anxious and less engaged. Having experienced the best and then struggled, I wanted each child I could reach to experience who fun and fulfilling learning could be.
