A bit about Sebastian

Male psychology and gender differences in learning styles. But also fun stuff like baking bread and making pizza. I am currently teaching over 70 students across several groups, delivering the Eduqas specification. I am also an Examiner for the examining board. I lectured at a university before I ended up in further education. I have a varied career, and worked in social care for over 10 years before I became a teacher. I worked with adults with learning disabilities and in a children's home caring for children with emotional trauma. I have also worked for the YMCA facilitating group work and delivered mental health training for Mind. A Level Psychology and my particular interest is male psychology and exploration of gender differences in learning, mental health and resilience. I use socratic approaches in learning to encourage learners to engage in exploration of the topic independently. We have discussions and I try to involve interactivity in the lesson, but sometimes lecturing needs to happen, it's unavoidable. I started tutoring 5 years ago. It's the mystery, Psychology is just so undiscovered. We know a little, but really all of it is just glimpses and assumptions. It's great to know that my students have a lot to discover. I lecture and ask questions, I encourage active learning and revision. I like socratic approaches in learning and I try to incorporate them in my teaching too. I meet so many young people, and I love being able to tailor make my lessons on a 1 to 1 basis. Teaching is a two way process; we must encourage a passion for learning not just give out information. It's clear and they get to experience something different. I have a Master's degree in Applied Psychology and I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. We managed to get acknowledgement for some of my students in competitions. I want to help young people realise their potential despite their mental health and barriers in their life
