A bit about Tom P

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses - the most important thing is that we understand what they are and how to best adapt to any challenges presented. When teaching, I have found that when a student themselves can understand their own thinking and how to best deal with a problem based on their personal own attributes, they will achieve the best results going forward. It is important to teach a way of thinking, rather than just what to think. My specialty is in helping students get to grips with exam technique - my main aim is for a student to look at a question and be able to visualise what the mark scheme will look like in their head! Alongside this, I work well with students to help with maths in science - especially those who don't do A-level maths but do A-level chemistry. I love the fact that I can adapt the lesson directly - the fewer the students, the easier it is to differentiate. This means that we can really focus on the areas that are relevant and see real results quickly - that progress is what I enjoy the most in the job and why I love being a tutor.
