A bit about Leanne P

Hi there! My name is Leanne and I've been a teacher for 14 years and have been private tutoring for 6 years. In my career, I have been a Head of Key Stage One, Head of EYFS, Phonics Leader, Science Leader, RE Leader and even a Designated Safeguard Officer, phew! I'm flexible and approachable and will always endeavour to work with parents to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child with lots of open discussion along the way. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Although I specialise in all primary curriculum subjects, my real passion is Phonics. I have worked as a Phonics leader in my teaching career, moving the school's phonics screening check data from 7% pass rate to 96% within 3 years. I believe reading is so important for children to access every other aspect of their academic life so to give them Phonics skills is a real gift. I truly believe that tuition should be fun and out of the typical "school" structure - every session is different and catered to your child's individual needs. Therefore, I take a holistic approach and focus on ensuring every second counts during my sessions. I started tutoring in 2018. Due to my plethora of experience, it has enabled me to become an effective teacher/tutor for children from all backgrounds. I have worked closely with children who have a range of Special Educational Needs and no challenge is too large. I understand the pressures of exams/assessment within the EYFS and Primary School setting; working towards this criteria and supporting your child in accelerating their progress towards these and in turn, boosting their confidence and approach to their own learning. I have also worked with children for their private school applications/entrance exams and also understand the various 11+ expectations and supported children through their journey to passing these exams.
