A bit about Syna M

I've been tutoring on and off since I was in my last year of school. I've taught essay writing courses, English grammar, history lessons and global politics classes. I love to teach in a creative manner which prioritises student interaction and comfort above all else. In my time as summer camp tutor, college essay editor and professional copy-editor, I've gained access to students of all ages and competencies. I love to teach with context in mind -- for example, when working on a text, my students will always get a crash course on when it was written and how the environment affected the author; if looking at a historical source, after my students' first impressions, we will look into the genesis of the material -- what newspaper it was printed in, what was it made in response to. This gives, in my opinion, a student the framework to understand both literary and historical work without losing sight of the real people creating and responding to it, both when it was made and now. I'm most comfortable with teaching IGCSE and IB boards, as those are what I was schooled by. (39/45 - IB) I am most delighted by 10th-12th graders.
