A bit about Filip S

Hi! My name is Filip. I graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2023 with a Master's degree in Chemistry. Since I have started working as a tutor in 2018, I completed just over 5000 lessons online and in person. I helped many students improve their grades, achieve exam results they needed to progress to university and see that Chemistry and Physics can be easy to follow and fun to learn. I also received over 500 five-star reviews from customers who found my lessons helpful. I always do my best to make the most out of each lesson. This is why I start with a short assessment of the student's knowledge - this could be a short chat about a particular topic or working through a question together. After the introduction, we would focus on filling any gaps and clearly explaining the relevant concepts. My philosophy is to guide the student through a topic to get them to a place where they can understand it rather than just giving away answers straight away. I also put a lot of emphasis on making exam requirements very clear, so that my students can focus on learning the right content. Due to the nature of the subjects I tutor, each lesson involves lots of practice on exam-style and past paper questions to build students' confidence in applying their knowledge. I enjoy seeing my students' confidence and problem-solving skills grow. It can take a while to explain a concept at first, but watching a student have that aha moment is the most rewarding part of my job. While exam results are also important to me, my students and their parents, the most important thing to me is that they will have built a genuine understanding of Science by the time they sit their exams and are able to apply the skills and knowledge going forward.
