A bit about Pietro M

This is my 9th year teaching in Secondary Schools. I teach Computer science at KS3, KS4 and KS5. Also teach Creative iMedia and KS4 and Cambridge technical in IT at KS5. Secondary School middle leader with a passion for Computing and technology. Have had highest results within the school but also trust level at KS4 and 5 Computing/IT. This is my first time tutoring online. My lessons are usually planned in accordance to my students needs and abilities. My lessons are fast paced to ensure maximum engagement and concentration is achieved from all students, with relevant collaboration to promote sharing ideas and building students communication skills. I always plan to use a variety of AFL techniques to assess the learning but also remove any misconceptions that may have appeared. I am very much a sporty person, with my main passion being football in which I play for two football teams on a Saturday and Sunday. Equally I do strength and weight training 5 times a week at the gym. Other than sports, I spend a lot of time looking at new technology and assessing how different elements function. The pinnacle of my teaching career is not just measured by the academic achievements of my students, but also by their personal growth and the development of their character. Witnessing my students attain the grades they’ve aspired to is immensely gratifying, but what brings me even greater joy is observing their transformation into curious, knowledgeable, and compassionate individuals. Over the course of 4-5 years, I have the privilege of nurturing their minds and spirits, instilling in them a love for learning that transcends the classroom. The time and dedication I invest in each student is reflected in their confidence to tackle challenges and their eagerness to contribute positively to society. My greatest success, therefore, lies in the collective triumphs of my students, as they emerge as well-rounded, responsible citizens ready to carve their own paths in the world. Seeing them apply the lessons learned, both academic and life skills, to achieve their goals is the ultimate testament to the impact of my teaching. I have a High 2:1 in my Bachelors degree in Digital Media Technology, I have a PGDE in Computer Science. Within the teaching sector I also have leadership qualifications in the NPQML and NPQSL. Students are particularly fond of the dynamic and engaging pace of my teaching, which keeps lessons interesting and stimulating. They appreciate the clarity with which I demystify complex concepts, making challenging material accessible and understandable. My classes are enriched with a variety of interactive activities that cater to different learning styles, ensuring that every student can grasp the subject matter in a way that resonates with them. Moreover, my students value the practical preparation I provide for assessments and exams, incorporating relevant exam questions that build their confidence and competence. They respect the way I model exemplary work, setting high standards and demonstrating the path to academic excellence. Finally, the deep questioning and memory recall exercises I employ are key to consolidating their knowledge, ensuring that they not only learn the material but also retain it long-term. This comprehensive approach to teaching is designed to empower students, equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed academically and beyond. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the transformative power of education, emphasizing a student-centered approach that nurtures a lifelong passion for learning. I aim to create an inclusive environment that encourages critical thinking and personal growth. By blending direct instruction with interactive activities and collaborative learning, I cater to diverse learning styles and foster independence. Formative assessments and constructive feedback are key, as they guide students in their academic and personal development, preparing them to become thoughtful, engaged global citizens.
