A bit about Hayla A

I did a bachelors at UCL in chemical engineering and achieved a 2.1, graduating in 2022. I did a levels in maths, chemistry and physics and achieved AAA. I also did an AS in Further maths and achieved an A. I did GCSE's in 2016 and achieved 8 A*'s and 2 A's, including French, Computer Science, Geography, and achieved the highest English Language score in my entire year, so whilst I may have an emphasis on the maths and sciences, I still have a solid foundation in English language and literature. I've always enjoyed teaching and have had a few tutoring jobs during sixth form and university. I currently work full time as a project analyst and would like to be able to continue to teach outside of work as a worthwhile investment of time to help others. I enjoy seeing students progress and seeing the light bulb go off in their heads when something finally clicks. I've had experience with primary school students, secondary school as well as students who had autism. I find it very fulfilling to engage with students and figure out different ways to teach them something new. My teaching style is adaptive and student-centered, tailored to the unique needs and learning styles of each individual. I believe in being reactive, meaning I closely observe and respond to how students are engaging with the material, making adjustments as necessary to ensure they are fully supported. For some students, this might mean breaking down complex concepts into more digestible parts, while for others, it could involve providing additional challenges to keep them engaged. Compassion is at the core of my approach. I strive to create a safe and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable expressing their difficulties and successes. I understand that each student has their own pace and way of learning, so I am patient and flexible, always ready to provide extra help or alternative explanations. By being empathetic and approachable, I aim to build a rapport with my students that fosters confidence and a love for learning. Ultimately, my goal is to not only teach but to inspire and empower students, helping them to realize their potential and achieve their academic goals.
