A bit about Simon M

I am a native English speaker and have been learning Chinese for many years. I can fully converse in both languages. This means I can help students improve in the language of their choice, by teaching them in their native tongue. I have experience in teaching English students Chinese and helping Chinese students to improve their English. I started teaching Chinese 20 years ago after learning the language. I have many Chinese friends and enjoy conversing with them in their own language. Knowing the challenges of learning Chinese made it easier to identify the difficulties that students would face in learning a foreign language. This, together with the passion I have for the language, makes me enthusiastic about teaching it to others. After enjoying the experience of teaching Chinese for several years, I started helping Chinese students to improve their English. The lessons are interactive. This is especially important when the teaching takes place online. The lesson being taught will include explanation, illustration and application, with students getting particularly involved in illustrating and applying what they learn. When students are able to use examples that they are familiar with, or use the information in a realistic setting, they are more likely to remember it.
