A bit about Julia C

My lessons are based on a communicative approach and my main focus are the students’ needs and interests. I know everyone will start from a different level and will have different reasons to learn Italian, this is why I design each and every single lesson based on the student they are created for. Depending on what you want to achieve we can focus on conversations rather than grammar or vice-versa. I always try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate any need, I am also able to have a playful approach to the language when teaching children or to provide some extra content for you to look at in between the lessons. I started being a private tutor while in high school, back in Rome. There I used to volunteer to help foreign children that just moved to Italy doing their Italian homework. Then in 2016 I moved to England to study at the University of Gloucestershire and after my graduation in 2019 I got both my CLTA and my TEFL certification. I love teaching Italian because I love travelling and discovering new cultures, and I think learning a language is a way to really get to know a country and its history and traditions. Furthermore I studied a second language myself so I know how hard and frustrating it can be sometimes. But I can also assure you that with the right approach it can be a really satisfying process and I am here to guide you through it. Since I came to England I completed both a CLTA course (Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults) and the TEFL (Teaching English as Foreign Language). Thanks to both of them I had the opportunity to practice teaching languages to people from different age groups and with different interests/goals. The first thing I do when I get a new student is asking about their level, why they want/need to study Italian and what do they want to achieve with our lessons. From there I start planning a course that will include activities to develop the four skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing) and gradually build up the student's knowledge and confidence.
