A bit about Faisal

Edexcel board QTS Maths secondary school teacher with 2 years experience. I'm a passionate Maths tutor, who wants to get the best out of pupils and ensure they reach their full potential. I like to always challenge and stretch pupils to ensure they excel further. I have been teaching Mathematics in a secondary school for two years and have been tutoring Mathematics for 4 years. I specialise in KS3 and KS4 Mathematics, I have also taught GCSE re-sits, hence I aim to also help those pupils who haven't passed their GCSEs the first time round. I follow the national GCSE and KS3 curriculum as well edexcel exam board I start with a DO NOW, to recap what was taught in the previous lesson, then a few examples of I DO and WE DO which is examples with the pupil's contributions. I will then give the pupil some YOU DO questions which is the independent task. I will make the pupil self assess and finish the lesson addressing misconceptions. I started tutoring 4 years ago, I was teaching KS3 and GCSE pupils. Seeing pupils improve and excel gave a good sense of reward, which is why I decided the pursue the career of teaching. Hence, my teaching in secondary school has allowed my tutoring to improve and fullfull the needs of each pupil. I love solving equations and algebra. These are areas of Mathematics I enjoy the most, as it gives me a great sense of excitement and when I was younger I loved solving difficult equations and anything involving algebra was always fascinating to me, as the manipulation of numbers and letters is an amazing concept to learn. I am a bubbly, easy going teacher who ensures pupils are comfortable in the lesson and are able to express their views and answers openly during discussions without having the fear or embarrassment of being wrong. I encourage pupils to be vocal and share ideas, even if they are wrong, so that they can improve their confidence, this is also a great way of eradicating misconceptions. I like to experience that rewarding feeling of seeing pupils make progress and expand their knowledge achieve their potential, this is the reason why I became a tutor and also chose the career as a teacher. Knowing that I have made a positive impact on pupils lives and seeing their confidence in Mathematics grow motivates me to work even harder. I ensure that the pupil and tutor relationship strong, as building this relationship is essential to unlocking the pupils potential. I have high expectations of my pupils and ensure that this is clearly communicated, and I encourage pupils to contribute and ask questions, which is the best way ensuring they get the best out of the lesson. Students like the fact that I explain my expectations clearly, I build a good rapport with them which allows them to express their views if they don't understand anything. They like the scaffolded structured examples I set in the lesson, this gives the pupils the tools to move onto the independent task. I teach year 7 - 11 and I follow the exam board of Edexcel. I have completed by PGCSE in Maths and recently completed my UCL backed QTS course. I have an Accounting degree, as well as 9 A-C GCSEs including Mathematics.
