A bit about Marisa M

I tutor English literature and language GCSE AQA|English Literature OCR | KS2 Literacy. I'm a part - time supply teacher and tutored for 2 years, currently pursuing a degree in Law with Politics. These are just some of the books I have studied: - Hamlet - Macbeth - Jekyll and Hyde - 1984 - The Handmaids Tale I have a student-centered approach where my learning plans will be different based on the student's goals, learning style, and proficiency. I have a student-centered approach where my learning plans will be different based on the student's goals, learning style, and proficiency. I encourage active participation through discussions, asking questions, and engaging in activities. How My Lessons Run First Session: In the first session, I will conduct an initial assessment to evaluate the student's current level, strengths, and areas of weakness. Normal Lessons: Warm-Up Activity: Each lesson starts with a warm-up activity and a recap from the last lesson. New Material: After checking the answers from the recap, we will move on to new material. Interactive Activities: I will conduct an activity with the student, then let them do it themselves. We will discuss the answers and provide feedback. Memory Activities: Throughout the lesson, I will incorporate memory activities to aid retention. This could involve key quotes or key thinkers. Continuous Questions and Feedback: The student is encouraged to ask questions and request feedback at any point during the lesson. Homework and Practice: I will provide homework and encourage continuous practice outside of tutoring sessions. Guardians will be updated on the progress of their child. Progress Reviews: Every few weeks, I will conduct progress reviews and evaluate the student's progress to ensure they are on track for their target grade. Additionally, I will encourage students to engage with their subject in their daily lives, such as by reading books on the topic. Working as a supply teacher and covering lessons, alongside my role as a teacher assistant, has been an enriching and dynamic experience. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities as I step into different classrooms and adapt to diverse teaching styles and student needs. This role has honed my adaptability and quick-thinking skills, as I often need to deliver lessons with minimal preparation time. Supporting full-time teachers as an assistant has also allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of classroom management and instructional strategies. Whether guiding students through complex topics or providing one-on-one support, I find immense satisfaction in contributing to their academic growth and fostering a positive learning environment. This multifaceted role has not only strengthened my teaching abilities but also deepened my passion for education and student development What I love most about being a tutor is seeing my students succeed and grow. It's incredibly rewarding to watch them overcome challenges, gain confidence, and achieve their goals. Every small step they take towards understanding and mastery fills me with pride and joy. Being a part of their learning journey and knowing I made a positive impact on their education is what makes tutoring so fulfilling for me I tutor Primary, Secondary and sixth/college students I have tutored GCSE English Literature and Language for a year and a half with 3 students who have recently done their GCSEs. The exam board was AQA. I have tutored 2 Alevel students for 2 years in English Literature using the OCR exam board. I have also tutored KS2 pupils in literacy and numeracy.
