A bit about Luc Barrett

I am a recent Cardiff University BScEcon(Hons.) economics and business graduate, about to start a postgraduate degree. I have worked very hard to achieve A*A*AA at A-Level and a First Class Honours in my degree. I have a deep understanding of the theory, and am very confident in teaching it. My teaching method revolves around placing abstract theory in the context of the real world. Once a student is comfortable with the theory, I tend to work on essays - learning to master the 25 mark essay questions. However, my teaching methodologies are flexible to cater to each students needs. I have tutored a number of GCSE and A-Level students through their courses, with great success, over the past two years. I have great experience teaching both A-Level and GCSE Economics with EdExcel and AQA. However, the economics and business syllabi remain similar across exam boards, so I am comfortable with teaching any. I was able to teach an eager A-Level economics and maths student how to answer a degree-level game theory question. I love how Economics is so applicable to the real world. It is an excellent framework for interpreting and engaging with so many parts of society in a precise and empirically tested manner. Economics does not have to be intrinsically mathematical, which is why I prefer to take a more theoretical approach, grounded in real world applications. -Degree in Economics and Management from Cardiff University, scoring a first. -A-Levels: Economics (A), Geography (A*), English (A), EPQ (A*). -Currently pursuing a Graduate Law Diploma with the University of Law. I love to identify gaps in a student's knowledge, fill those gaps, and then test with plenty of practice questions. I make sure that students have many opportunities to write essays early on, given the importance of essay writing skills for the exam (and for life!).
