A bit about Rachael T

I have worked as a primary school teacher for 8 years and I have a particular interest in both maths and English. I am confident in supporting children to meet the expected age standard and beyond, across the whole of the primary school age range. I am confident in teaching maths, English and science to all primary years. Particularly those preparing for their SATS. I also work part time marking the year 6 SATS paper, providing me with an insight on how to successfully answer SATS style questions. I will start off working out which areas of each subject you require further support in. We will then work on this area together until you are confident to beginning tackling challenges alone. I use a range of visual and audio prompts as well as lots of practice until you're feeling comfortable with the topic. This is my first year online tutoring, however I have worked as a qualified primary school teacher for 8 years. This includes throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, which involved me largely teaching my lessons online and over video calls. I love English as I enjoy writing a variety of texts whether they be fiction or non-fiction. I enjoy maths as I see the questions like a riddle to solve! A gentle approach that guides a child from working with support to working independently. Mistakes help me identify where more support is needed. I’m excited to help people towards their goals! Everyone can achieve what they want, with a bit of hard work and support. I keep sessions fun and light hearted, whilst still achieving our goals. I have had 8 years of successful students who move on having made huge academic progress throughout the year. I have lots of experience also teaching children who have English as an additional language, or those who have special educational needs. With personalised planning, everyone can achieve their goals. I hold a BA Hons degree in primary education with QTS Since I was very young, I always wanted to be a primary school teacher. Initially, I felt I lacked the confidence to do this. All it took was one teacher to believe in me to apply for a teacher training course. Since then, I have had a very successful teaching career. I am very confident and knowledgeable in what I teach, and I very much enjoy what I do. I thoroughly enjoy improving my physical health, in particular I enjoy running and setting myself new goals to achieve. I also enjoy reading, I particularly enjoy true life crime stories. I have a young daughter who I enjoy spending most of my time with! I am confident in teaching years 1-6, and I am very confident in my delivery of SATS preparation.
