A bit about Magda F

My passions in life are: Teaching, travelling, movies, cooking and learning about other cultures. I love sharing experiences with others. I have been a teacher for more than 20 years, it's something that is part of me. I have taught students of all ages from 8 months young to 84 years. I specialise in adults, tailoring their special need while learning a new language. Their challenges at work dictate the way to go most of the times. But, I can teach anyone who wants to learn. Generally speaking, I prepare for each lesson according to what I have discussed with my students - or their parents-, but, nothing is set on stone, if the lesson takes us elsewhere, I'm rather flexible and adaptable to each circumstance. Whatever it is, lessons must include all skills - reading, listening, writing, speaking. I love the light in my students eyes, it shines much brighter when they learn something new. Helping other open doors is very rewarding. You can learn anything you want if you like the topic and you're motivated. I make it my job to make them both happen when either or both are missing. It's been so long, but I still remember the first time, more than 20 years ago. I helped a student study for his final exam. He passed with flying colours and I was over the moon. That's when I knew, I wanted to be a teacher and a tutor. I love being able to help people get more options in life, learning a new language does that. People transcend cultural boundaries and connect more easily with others. I have been told they enjoy my lessons' versatility. I learn what each like and embark on a journey to undesrtand what it is, so we can chat about their preferred topics. They like that I have a rather distinctive accent - in Spanish - most are used to Spanish from Spain. I use sense of houmor to make classes lighter, they all seem to enjoy it. Once I had a student who hated Englsih but needed it for her career. I made it my job to make her like it so it'd be easier to learn. I can say: "mission accomplished". She ended up loving it so much that she finds ways to use it everyday even if it's not necessay. She started A1... she's C2 + now. I have a CELTA certificate. I love traveling, movies, cooking, history, reading and writing. I love discovering cultural differences and learning from each person I have the fortune to meet. Movies have been my biggest teachers and of course traveling makes me a citizen of the world, it has opened my eyes to so many wonderful places and adventures. Honestly? Dead poets' society - the movie. Ever since I watched that movie, I knew I wanted to be a teacher.
