A bit about Christian W

Hello! I’m a native British English speaker, and have been working as an English tutor for the past 8 years. I have a BA Honours degree in English Language and Linguistics, and I’m TEFL-certified with Distinction. As part of my experience of private tutoring for KS3 and GCSE students in English Language and Literature, I have developed a strong awareness of the course content, grade boundaries and assessment criteria as specified by the foremost UK exam boards, namely Pearson (EdExcel), OCR and AQA. I keep myself up-to-date by using the relevant materials at any given time. These have included Shakespeare's "Macbeth" (EdExcel GCSE) and "The Tempest" (OCR KS3), J.B. Priestley's "An Inspector Calls" (OCR GCSE), and Orwell's "Animal Farm" (AQA GCSE). I’m looking forward to teaching you English! I specialise in supporting students with KS3 and GCSE English, helping them prepare for their English Language and Literature exams by improving their understanding of the required texts within the UK national curriculum. I also provide ESL and EFL services including Teaching IELTS and TOEFL. In addition, I have 10 years' experience of proofreading research papers for higher education students in the UK, advising on grammar, punctuation, word choice, and the flow of ideas for enhanced readability. I always plan my lessons around the needs of my students, as I understand that each student learns differently. I have found that students achieve more when they can take an active role in the learning process, so I strive to make my lessons as engaging and interactive as possible.
