A bit about Amrit K

I am a SENCO and fully qualified English teacher in a mainstream British secondary school, and have over 10 years experience of teaching and working with young people with Special Needs. My specialism is English Language and Literature, as well as building general literacy skills. I also closely support and oversee the provision for young people with SEN and EAL in my school role as SENCO so would love to work with students that may struggle with their basic literacy or to access their learning. I base my lessons around your needs, and begin by establishing areas of weakness that you would like to work on before planning relevant exercises and materials for you to build your skills in these areas with my extensive support. I began tutoring at the start of my teaching career ten years ago and have supported countless people to prepare for and to pass 11+ common entrance exams; to develop their reading and writing skills at KS3, or to prepare and practice for GCSE and A Level exams. As an English teacher I very much enjoy reading novels and other texts, and like to support young people to engage with them to a higher degree than they otherwise manage in the classroom by themselves. My greatest success in tutoring was helping a student who failed to get a pass in GCSE English re-take his English Language exam to secure an overall grade B I'm the subject. -BA Honours English PGCE Secondary English -Advanced Teacher training completed -Trained Accessor for Access Arrangements (CCET & AAC Level 7 qualification) -MA Module in Dyslexia Leadership & Intervention -National Award for SEN Co-ordination recently completed Exam board - AQA Year groups - 7-11 (KS3 & secondary) - 12-13 (post 16/A Level)
