A bit about Ayisha Ali

With over ten years of experience teaching a variety of subjects, including GCSE English Language and Literature, ESL, and 11+ exam preparation, I have a proven track record of guiding students to successful admissions into some of the most prestigious schools in the UK, such as St Paul’s, Latimer Upper School, and Alleyns. My commitment to excellence is reflected in my 100 percent pass rate and my ability to help students improve by as much as two grades. I specialize in classic texts such as "A Christmas Carol," "An Inspector Calls," "Blood Brothers," "Of Mice and Men," "Jekyll and Hyde," "Macbeth," and "Romeo and Juliet." Additionally, I have experience working with students with SEN needs, including ADHD and autism, and I am well-versed in the IGCSE specification. My teaching approach emphasizes breaking down complex ideas into clear and relatable concepts, engaging students in meaningful discussions, and tailoring lessons to meet individual needs. In both my teaching and previous legal work, I prioritize clarity, structure, and adaptability. Whether designing a curriculum or preparing students for exams, I focus on meeting each student’s unique needs. I stay updated on educational strategies to ensure that my teaching methods continually evolve, providing the best support for my students and fostering a genuine love for literature. I am an experienced SEN specialist working with a range of different needs. I am an expert in teaching GCSE English Language and Literature, I have experience with AQA, Edexcel & Educas focusing on helping students develop their skills in reading, writing, analysis, and critical thinking. I guide students through key areas like understanding literary techniques, essay writing, and exam preparation. My goal is to equip them with the tools they need to succeed academically, while also fostering a deeper appreciation for language and literature. I have taught A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Jekyll & Hyde, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, Blood Brothers and Of Mice and Men. I also have extensive experience teaching the 11+ examination successfully helping my students with admission into St Paul’s Girls, Latymer Upper School and Alleyns. I can teach each area of English, maths, verbal reasoning, non verbal reasoning and creative writing. Using my unique analytical skills during my time in legal practice I provide my learners with a bespoke way of approaching the 11+ exam. In my lessons, I focus on structuring them to be engaging, interactive, and tailored to the specific needs of each student. Here's a general outline of how I usually plan them: Warm-Up & Recap (5-10 minutes): I start with a brief review of previous lessons or topics to reinforce understanding and ensure retention. This might involve a quick quiz, discussion, or reviewing homework. Introduction to New Material (10-15 minutes): I introduce the new topic or concept, providing context and explaining key ideas. If it's English Literature, I’ll often explore themes, literary devices, and historical context. For Language, it could be focused on writing techniques or exam skills. Guided Practice & Discussion (15-20 minutes): After introducing new material, I engage students with guided practice, like analyzing a text, answering questions, or working through writing exercises. This part is interactive, encouraging students to think critically and ask questions. Independent Practice (15-20 minutes): Here, students apply what they've learned in independent tasks, such as writing essays, analyzing extracts, or answering exam-style questions. I give them time to work through these tasks while offering feedback and guidance. Review & Feedback (5-10 minutes): At the end of the lesson, I review key points, answer any lingering questions, and provide feedback on the independent work. This helps solidify understanding and sets clear goals for improvement. Homework or Follow-Up (if applicable): I often assign follow-up tasks, like reading assignments or short essays, to reinforce the lesson content and encourage independent learning. Each lesson is flexible and adapted depending on the student's progress and specific areas where they need extra support I first started teaching in 2014, tutoring while I was still in university. This early experience deepened my passion for education, and after completing my studies, I pursued a PGCE to formalize my teaching credentials. Since then, I have been tutoring consistently, specializing in GCSE English Language and Literature. My experience allows me to tailor lessons to the unique needs of each student, helping them reach their academic potential. AQA, Pearson Edexcel, WJEC Educas
