A bit about Morgan G

I am a psychology teacher with QTS and 2 years experience teaching A level psychology at a sixth form college. I have an undergraduate psychology degree from University of Lincoln and PGCE from Bishop Grosseteste University. I also have experience in teaching Religious studies and achieved A levels in psychology, sociology, RE, business and law. I specialise in psychology A level with 2 years experience teaching at a sixth form college, as well as, completing an undergraduate degree in psychology. My PGCE was in secondary education with religious education so also specialise in RE. I have an A level in sociology so happy to help with sociology A level also. Begin with a starter recapping previous learning from last week or last topic. Then the main body of the lesson in terms of learning new information followed by a task to consolidate that knowledge and an exam question relating to that information. Finally, a plenary of assessing how much knowledge has been taken on board and assessing any gaps that need to be revisited later on. I began teacher training in 2019 in secondary education. In 2020 I began teaching psychology at a sixth form college (also online for a time during lockdown) and finished teaching in 2022 to start a family. I now have a 1-year-old daughter and tutoring online. Psychology has so much real-world application as most scenarios involve trying to understand another's behaviour, whether that be human or animal. It also involves 3 key subjects learnt at GCSE: maths, English and science. Therefore, students who study this subject improve key skills of language, numeracy and critical thinking, as well as, increased empathy to others around them. My teaching style is dynamic and adaptable to each individual student. I encourage discussion and engagement with the content being covered to enhance critical thinking skills, which in-turn aids memory of the information for exams. I'm happy to tailor each lesson to individual needs of students. My favourite thing about being a tutor is witnessing that "light-bulb" moment where a student masters a new skill or remembers information they had previously forgotten, based on the support I had given them. Seeing improvements in students academic ability which in-turn gives them confidence and motivation is one of the best things about being a tutor. AQA psychology A level both year 12 & 13, as well as, AS level. I gave birth to my lovely daughter a year ago so outside of teaching I enjoy visiting farm parks with her. I also enjoy cooking and reading child-development and psychiatry books. I became a teacher due to the amazing support I received from my teachers whilst at school. I wanted to be able to provide that same support to every student I taught. GCSEs in English language and literature, mathematics, science (biology, chemistry and physics), religious studies, health and social care, performing arts, food technology and business studies. A levels in psychology, sociology, religious studies, business and law. Undergraduate degree in Psychology. PGCE in secondary religious education with QTS. The greatest success I have had with teaching is teaching a particular student during COVID and lockdown who began the course achieving E's in A level psychology with low attendance and engagement to achieving a B in the final exams with increased attendance, to both lessons and revision sessions. Through creating the wrap-around approach of contacting tutors and parents we were able to work together to support the student with their additional needs and implement strategies so that they were able to achieve their best. A student once described me as "a positive person" in a lesson and that has stuck with me to this day. I aim to create a positive environment to learn with enjoyment of the subject and topic at hand.
