A bit about Natalie H

Hello, my name is Natalie and i have worked in schools for 20 years and have been teaching for 7 years. I have experience of working in mainstream and specialised schools. I am a qualified teacher in primary education and also have taught for the 11+ and key stage 3. Lessons have a loose structure of input of the subject, working through problems/questions together and modelling answers. Then allowing time for the student to answer the problem/question independently but being on hand to help and advise if needed. I say loose structure as sometimes whilst teaching the lesson it may go in a different direction altogether and other issues may need addressing. I have a love for teaching English and Maths. English is a complex language and helping students to understand how it works and putting the pieces together is a wonderful feeling. Maths is a problem waiting to be solved and aiding students to learn the tools to solve problems themselves is gratifying. Whilst experienced in primary English and Maths i have spent a lot of time tutoring for the 11+ and preparing students for SATs. I have also specialised in phonics for the past academic year, working with the governments catch up scheme in schools. I left teaching in schools in 2016 when i had my children and began private tuition instead which has proved to be enjoyable and fits around my home life better. My teaching style differs between students, not everyone is alike or learns the same and I believe this should be reflected in teaching.
