A bit about Urwah A

I am a full time PhD researcher in BioEngineering. My research is based on designing medical grade electrodes. I am employed as part time tutor at the university and Associate Fellow at Higher Education Association, UK. Being an engineer I am specialised in electronics, automation, programing, instrumentation and measurement. But I have also experience of tutoring GCSE mathematics. My previous students used to say they love studying mathematics with me. Initially I would like to know the student's understanding of subject. Then I make customized plans for my lessons because each student is different. But mostly I start with a short revision discussion then move on to the main topic of discussion. After that a couple of solved examples are discussed, then homework questions are provided. I am teaching since 2014. I do not know why people are afraid of mathematics. I teach it like a game. I love mathematics because it is the subject of life. I explain everything using daily life examples which makes this subject easy to understand and fun. I do not believe in delivering mathematics lecture, but I keep my students engaged by making them understand how mathematics is used in their everyday life and providing them tips and trick to solve complicated problems easily. I have patience to repeat concepts and answer questions until the student is satisfied. I would use graphical aids to help students understand the concepts. I love the moment when students understand the concept and have satisfied smile and confidence. I enjoy the moment when my students say we are not going to forget it ever. My teaching philosophy is to tailor the brains of my students making them keen to explore and imagine. Above all, confidence and appreciation is the key to improve their cognitive skills. I tailor my teaching strategy according to student's understanding of subject. Therefore, my students are satisfied with my teaching style. In my teaching they love the way I quote examples from everyday life and relate it to mathematics. This makes their concepts long lasting.
