A bit about Cecilia D

I am an enthusiastic and committed teacher with over twenty years experience of teaching in secondary schools. I have years of experience in teaching Italian, Latin and Classical Civilisation at both GCSE and A level. My students tend to do extremely well and exceed their target grades. I am familiar with and use a variety of textbooks and resources, including my own, to motivate and enthuse students. In Classical Civilisation, I have taught the Iliad and the Aeneid for several years and currently teach Imperial Image (Augustus) and Athenian Democracy. In Latin I am very familiar with both the Eduqas and the OCR GCSE syllabus (I am also an examiner for OCR). I teach Latin A level, including unseen translations, prose composition as well as prose and verse set texts, including Cicero, Virgil, Ovid, Catullus and Tacitus. I have taught Italian to A level (I am a mother tongue speaker) and have helped undergraduates. I have tutored for over 15 years, including adult learners from beginners to undergraduates. I have embraced online tutoring and currently tutor Y9, Y10, Y11 and Y13 students in Latin, Classics and Italian. I am a confident user of Zoom and Microsoft Teams. I really enjoy tutoring as as the lesson can respond to individual learning needs and styles of the pupils, enabling students to make very rapid progress compared to a classroom.
