I studied Chemistry at Oxford University leaving with an MChem and DPhil. From there I began my teaching career in Edinburgh delivering GCSE, A-level and SQA classes. After three years I moved with my partner to teach overseas joining international schools in Tanzania, Malaysia and ultimately Aberdeen. Internationally I was teaching IBDP and though I have taught general science, DT, TOK and ESS the common thread has been chemistry. As well as over 20 years teaching the subject, I have worked as an examiner for the IB, marking scripts and moderating IAs. I am a patient, responsive individual who encourages problem solving as part of the learning process. A professor I met once said, 'learning is what happens when people think hard', and to get the most out of the sessions, students can expect to be challenged and pushed to take risks with their thinking.
