A bit about Andrew S

My teaching philosophy is never to forget how it was to be a student at school. I didn't love mathematics back then and it's easy to understand why. When people tell you it's all about the teacher this is 100% correct. Empathise with your student and understand their learning process and you will succeed every time. My greatest success in teaching is inspiring some of the worst performing students in the class into enthusiastic and high scoring maths lovers. While it's undeniable that some kids are more naturally number oriented, everyone has the ability to raise their game and get up there with the best. Turnarounds like that give ultimate job satisfaction. I have a bachelors degree in Engineering from the University of Manchester and a PGCE from the University of Nottingham. I now have 12 years of experience teaching mathematics, both in schools and as a private tutor across all groups with the majority of my exposure being years 9-11 (KS3-KS4).
