An English teacher of 26 years, young people, children and adults.
You can book a free 20 minute, no-commitment introduction with any of our tutors. How does this work?
I have always enjoyed teaching English, both language skills and literature. My most recent experience was in an 11-16 school (Biddick Academy) teaching the full ability range for 17 years. I have also taught adults GCSE English and middle school children aged 11-13 plus some A-Level English Literature.
Whilst most teaching in a school is to a full class or to smaller groups, I have had plenty of 1:1 tuition experience, teaching grammar, revision for GCSE skills, reading with individuals and creative writing skills. I love helping young, enthusiastic writers find their own writing voice.
Recently I have been creating power-points for my grandchildren aged 6-8 and telling stories from classical Greece online to help my daughter home-school.
Educated at Saint Andrews for my MA in English and French 2:2 1980-1984
PGCE from Durham University 1991-1992 in English and French with Drama
I think Linda is a great tutor who explains things very clearly and delivers her lessons very well. She has an easy out going personality and a has a witty sense of humour. I would recommend her as a tutor because of her in depth knowledge and years of teaching experience. I am happy to have her as a tutor and feel that I have developed in my understanding in poems and language techniques. Sophina Prestidge
