A bit about Evie B

I am currently studying Physics; my course consists of physics and maths. I aspire to work in research as I find the prospect of space beyond fascinating. I love the work I do, and I hope to teach and inspire others to want to learn more. I usually begin lessons with a starter/ warm up to introduce the student to the topic at hand. After this, the student and I will work through some more detailed problems. Each lesson will finish with a reflection on what was learned and a short discussion on anything the student was unsure on and wants to go over again. When starting a topic, I would first explain why we do it. I would then look at the basic concepts and break it down with examples mixed in, so it’s clear what issues the student has. After this, I would run through more questions. After the lesson I would ask that the student works through some questions in their own time to solidify the knowledge of the topic. Any questions can then be raised in the next session. I am very keen on increasing confidence in students as oftentimes they just need a topic explaining in a different way. I was a tutor for my brother who is currently taking his GCSE’s as he was struggling with maths. I found that most of the time he just needed a different explanation of a topic. I think this applies to many students, particularly in this strange time with a lot of online lessons. I have most experience with Edexcel exam board, however I have also taught all other GCSE level exam boards.
