Experienced Primary Tutor/Teacher. Patient. Calm. Caring. Humorous.
You can book a free 20 minute, no-commitment introduction with any of our tutors. How does this work?
I've been teaching and tutoring roughly for fifteen years. I've mostly taught with some tutoring alongside. I do like tutoring a lot. It is the purest form of teaching because developing an intense working relationship allows for favourable progress to be made at a rapid and collaborative rate. :)
I'm going to cheat here and say what my favourite thing(s) are! Sorry! Firstly, I like to get to know my student(s) well; find out their likes and dislikes, their strengths and weaknesses. Then it's time to get learning, tapping into these areas and tailoring support towards the learner. Finally, I like to include some humour for good measure. It really helps in the learning process. :)
One particular example sticks out for me. Many have been academic, but the memory that sticks out the most is of a young girl, 10 years old, who really didn't enjoy physical activity. Then one term, with a lot of persistence, practise and drills, she was able to forward roll successfully. She pursued gymnastics following that period of teaching and learning and I never would have predicted that outcome.
