A bit about James Y

My name is James and I have been an English tutor online for more than 3 years. I love learning languages, I studied French and German at university and since then I have also started to learn many other languages. I am extremely passionate about teaching English and helping learners achieve their goals and this is helped enormously by my language background. Every student is unique and so my lessons are always unique to the individual student. I usually start my lessons with a recap of the vocabulary and grammar from the previous lesson and then will focus the lesson on what the student is looking to work e.g. as prepositions, the present perfect, listening skills etc. I always maintain a relaxed atmosphere in my lessons and encourage students to ask questions as much as possible when they do not understand something. I first started teaching English to classes when I was a student living in France and Germany over 10 years ago! I started teaching online in 2018 and since then I have helped a lot of students to improve their English and also feel more comfortable when speaking English both in their working and home lives. The feedback that I receive most often from my students is that learning with me is fun and that they do not feel worried or embarrassed about making mistakes. This is really important to me as I really believe that people learn more effectively in a relaxed environment. As a polyglot myself, I am really interested in grammar and that is one of things that I specialise in - especially when the student's native language is a language which I am familiar with. Furthermore, I specialise in teach teaching conversational English, business English and also IELTS.
