A bit about Fiona A

I specialise in English Literature and Language at KS3 and KS4. All my lessons are bespoke and are aimed specifically for my students. I am also TEFL qualified so I can work with students who are not native English speakers. I am an examiner for two English exam boards and I am responsible for creating suitable schemes of work in the school I currently work in. I have been teaching since 2004 in mainstream school, International and Non- Mainstream schools and began online teaching in 2018. What I love most about teaching English is that everyone can have a unique response to a text or an extract. I also love seeing young people grow in confidence in their understanding of the English language as well as develop a love of reading is just wonderful. My lessons are fun and friendly and always planned to the specific needs of the student. There will be discussion about your needs and areas of improvement which will be included in the lessons. There will always be a starter which will link into previous learning as well as what will be in the current lesson. There will be a tutor led activity followed by the student demonstrating the new skill. Feedback is given and the student is offered time for reflection and improvements. Multi media is used in the lessons as well as visuals and sometimes sound to ensure that the student fully understands the new skill. I have space for home schooled children during the day also. I am 39, I live in the North of England with my husband and two children. I enjoy exciting books and films, I love to listen to different types of music as well going to the theatre when I can. I have been a teacher for a long time and working with young people is a real passion of mine. Seeing young people grow in confidence in their learning is a privilege.
