A bit about Sarah F

I am a PhD biochemist and fully qualified mathematics teacher with 10 years experience of teaching in schools. I have taught students at all levels: from those that struggle with basic maths concepts in primary school to those who are hoping to gain top grades at A level for university places. My approach is to make the subject enjoyable and accessible so students lose their fear of making mistakes, thus allowing them to progress. As a Tutor I am able to personalise my teaching to the needs of the individual. Finding the root cause of difficulties and enabling the student to overcome problems. I have great satisfaction when a student understands something that had been confusing them, whether this was adding fractions or understanding the mechanism of nucleophilic addition in chemistry. My teaching style is friendly and relaxed. I expect my students to feel comfortable asking and answering questions, without fear of making mistakes. As students gain understanding I increasingly use exam style questions so that they gain the experience of the wording and type of questions, and answers that are expected. I teach years 7 to 13, at KS3 I specialise in mathematics. I have experience tutoring all exam boards at GCSE (AQA, edexcel and OCR) I also teach iGCSE maths. At A level I also teach across all exam boards (AQA, edexcel and OCR).
