A bit about Hammad S

I have experience learning GCSE maths and Teaching it. Having studied it myself I know the daunting feeling of not knowing where to start. This is where I can help!. I have experience of 2 years of tutoring and also work with White-rose maths that provides tutoring over whole of West Yorkshire. First Started tutoring in 2021. I have experience in teaching online for quite a while, I can teach from pictorial methods to hand written methods. I am a final year Computer Science student at the University of Leeds, aiming to graduate with an upper second-class honours degree. Over the past few years, I have engaged in freelance tutoring through platforms such as White Rose Maths and Tutorful. Through my work with White Rose Maths and Tutorful, I have supported over 100 high school students, focusing on enhancing their mathematical understanding and helping them reach their full academic potential. My experience includes preparing and delivering lessons tailored to individual student needs, allowing them to grasp complex mathematical concepts and excel in their studies. This role has significantly sharpened my communication and pedagogical skills, reinforcing my objective to assist students in achieving their academic goals. When preparing for a tutoring session, I start by reviewing the student's recent feedback from their school teachers, aiming to identify any specific areas where they struggle. For example, one student, Emily, was having difficulty understanding quadratic equations. To address this, I designed a lesson that began with a brief review of algebraic fundamentals, which are essential for grasping more complex topics. We then moved into a hands-on activity where Emily used a graphical software tool to visualize different quadratic equations and see how changes to the equation affected the graph's shape. This visual approach helped her understand the concepts of vertex and intercepts more intuitively. Next, I introduced several problem-solving exercises, gradually increasing in difficulty, and encouraged Emily to talk through her thought process. This not only helped solidify her understanding but also built her confidence in tackling new problems independently. We concluded the session with a quick recap of what we covered and a preview of the next lesson's topics, ensuring continuity in her learning journey. I also provided her with some practice problems to work on before our next meeting, tailored to reinforce the day’s lessons and prepare her for upcoming school tests. What I love most about teaching mathematics is witnessing that "aha!" moment when a student finally grasps a concept that they've been struggling with. It's incredibly rewarding to see the look of understanding and excitement light up a student's face a clear sign that they've overcome a challenge through their hard work and persistence. This breakthrough not only boosts their confidence but also ignites a passion for learning more. As a tutor, these moments validate the importance of my role and motivate me to continually refine my teaching methods to better support each student's unique learning journey. These breakthroughs are a reminder of the profound impact that patient, supportive teaching can have on a student's academic path.
