A bit about Paul H

Proven track record of improving students' results at GCSE and A level, leveraged through 12 years teaching experience in UK secondary schools as well as examining for a major UK exam board. Excellent subject knowledge combined with superlative pedagogical skills. I will work with you on topics you tell me you are unsure of, or run diagnostic assessments to focus on topics that will provide you with the biggest and quickest improvements. Specialising in: Physics and Chemistry GCSE and A level. Engineering GCSE and vocational qualifications Cambridge iGCSE Physics and Chemistry BTEC Firsts and Nationals Applied Science Generic and focused examination technique I am a crew member on my local lifeboat. I have been doing this for just over 10 years. I grow fiery hot Scotch Bonnet chilli peppers and use these to make the most amazing jerk sauce. The way I use my in-depth subject knowledge to breakdown difficult concepts to make them easy to understand in conjunction with how I use my detailed knowledge of examination systems to help my students gain more marks by breaking down the question syntax so that they can answer exactly what the question is looking for. Seeing how over a relatively short period of time my students develop from being unsure about, or even hating, the subject to become happy, confident and more than competent at physics. With having taught for so many years my teaching style is very flexible to meet the needs of individual students. I get to know my studenst and understand their strenghts, weaknesses and preferred learning style and adapt my teaching style accordingly. I think it is really important to find out about my tutees and what they feel they need to improve in the subject and combine this with my knowledge about what makes the biggest difference in exams. In a lesson I focus on a learning point, explaining not just the science but also how the science is applied to examination questions. I am adept at doing this in multiple ways, after all we do not all learn in the same way. This I follow up with practice to ensure thatthe science has been learned short term and then interleaved questions to facilitate long term learning.
