A bit about Ella C

Hi there, I'm Ella and I am an experienced full-time tutor, with over 2000 hours of teaching experience under my belt. I have a First Class degree in Criminology from the University of Nottingham and the transferrable skills I attained from this degree have been an invaluable contribution towards the service I provide my students with. Despite loving every moment of my degree, I decided to venture down the tutoring pathway due to my strong passion for teaching and desire to aid students in achieving their full potential. Tutoring started as a part-time job whilst I was studying and has turned into my profession, which allows me to pour all my time into ensuring my students receive the best learning experience. I teach individuals from varying learning abilities and ages, ranging all the way from 6 years old to adult learners. My lessons provide a space within which students can feel comfortable to express their concerns regarding their chosen subject and I will dedicate my time and effort into ensuring they receive the necessary support required to help them achieve their academic potential. Whether they require help with essay structuring, exam techniques, subject content, I am more than happy to tailor my teaching to the individual needs of the student. I have helped dozens of students achieve their desired grades, as demonstrated by my profile reviews, and would love to help you. I absolutely love tutoring and believe that conveying this through my teaching style is hugely beneficial to students. Lessons are tailored to individual pupils to ensure that I cater to both their educational needs and learning style. Once we have discussed what needs to be covered in our free meeting, I will be able to take this forward into my first lesson with the student, which will intend to assess their ability further and gain a more comprehensive understanding of their learning style. For English, whether the student needs help in creative writing, analysis of texts or understanding writer's perspectives, I will pull from my vast array of resources to provide clear information and full guidance based around how each student can improve their responses. For Spanish, we will engage in numerous speaking, writing, listening and reading activities to identify weak areas that we can tackle together. I am keen to encourage my students using positive reinforcement and deliver my teaching in a friendly manner, which allows me to maintain a great relationship with my students whilst maintaining upmost professionalism throughout. Progress can be measured through regular tasks throughout our lessons and guardians will be kept in the loop regarding the lesson content as well as the student's progress. I welcome feedback from both the student and guardian and will adapt my lessons accordingly. My favourite thing about being a tutor is watching my students gain confidence during the lesson process. It is extremely rewarding to see not only an academic change within the pupil, but also a personal change, as they begin to approach tasks with a more positive and assured mindset. I believe that students thoroughly appreciate my ability to connect with and relate to them, as whilst I maintain professionalism throughout, I aim to make the student feel as comfortable as possible within the lesson space. This means that I approach all lessons with patience and aim to create a friendly environment within which the student can flourish. I specialise in tutoring English for all ages, particularly during KS3 and GCSE years. I also specialise in teaching Spanish at a GCSE level, developing all listening, reading, writing and speaking skills required to excel in these exams. I always thoroughly enjoyed English as a child, I grew up being a massive bookworm and being able to encourage those who are struggling in the subject is so rewarding. I could give 20 students an essay question and they would all come up with different valuable points, something which is unique to essay-based subjects such as English. For Spanish, being able to provide someone with the necessary tools to learn an entirely different language is incredibly fulfilling and watching a student develop their confidence with communication is a very enjoyable process. My teaching style is a blend of interactive and individual work. It is important that students are allowed the time to independently take forward and apply the skills we work towards developing, however we will also incorporate a range of collaborative tasks to ensure the student fully understands the topic from numerous angles. With regards to independent work, I encourage the student to come up with ideas and responses on their own without making them feel pressured or alone and will always talk each student through a task in detail before they have a go at it themselves. In July 2022 I attained my First Class Bachelor's Degree in Criminology. In August 2019 I achieved all three A Level qualifications in English, Spanish, and Philosophy and Ethics. Furthermore, with tutoring being largely based on your ability to adapt to the needs of different students, I believe that my 2000+ hours of tutoring experience has has immensely broadened my skillset with regards to teaching. I am a qualified personal trainer and thoroughly enjoy going to the gym, which takes up most of my free time. I of course love to read, which is a great form of relaxation for me. In addition to this, I have three dogs and two cats who all certainly keep me busy! I teach all exam boards, specializing in Edexcel and AQA. I teach students ranging from KS2 to A Level.
