A bit about Duncan A

Following my Chemistry degree I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 20 years as a drug designer working on a range of diseases including asthma and HIV. In 2009 I switched careers and became a teacher and have taught in a range of schools both state and independent, for most of the time as Head of Department. I’m also an experienced examiner so know exactly where students go wrong. Chemistry! I can work with students of all abilities, whether you are struggling to get a C grade or pushing to get into Oxbridge I can help you get the best out of yourself. I’ve also coached many who are wanting to get medical school and can help you prepare for interviews. Every lesson is customised to my students. I can teach any topic from scratch, or we can start with things that are causing problems and go from there. Typically, we will talk through the difficult ideas, look at some questions and see whether we can work out where the challenges lie. I have a huge range of notes, worksheets and revision aids that my students can use to practice with after the lesson. I’ve been a teacher for 14 years and have been teaching online for the last 3 years. I became a full-time tutor in 2020 and greatly enjoy the chance to work 1:1 with students.
