A bit about Elithia S

I started tutoring over three years ago - in that time I have tutored: IB, A-Level (AQA and Edexcel), GCSE, Nat 5 as well as SQA Higher and Advanced Higher for 2 years I am a geography student at the University of Edinburgh who studied National 5 Geography, earning an A and then undertook the International Baccalaureate Higher Level Geography, where I received a total of 7/7 points as-well as doing my EE specialising in Geography, considering how the El Nino years are affecting coral reefs in the Caribbean. Outside of Geography, I really enjoy cycling, sailing, windsurfing and a lovely scenic hill walk- I love to adventure! I specialise in improving confidence, knowledge and abilities in secondary level Geography. I am a very balanced individual and despite being on the MA (the more human orientated geography) I am also very knowledgable on physical geography, such as landscapes and natural hazards. My biggest interest is in sustainable geography, how we can find a way to live in harmony to the earth I offer a friendly but educational approach to tutoring which is relaxed yet formative, encouraging students to think critically of what they are being asked to do and the most effective way to go about questions. I myself am a bubbly individual who believes learning is easiest through examples, so I use many case studies and diagrams to inspire further independent learning for the student. As well as setting work for the student to do out of class when appropriate. I like to learn what students are struggling to grasp, work through any mind boggling definitions and further delve into the topic for a richer understanding for those extra marks in the exams. When necessary, I can mark practice exam questions that students have answered to provide feedback, as this enables students to see what examiners look for in their answers and helps portray areas that need further consolidation. Meeting an array of students with different interests. As well as doing my best to support my students in Geography, I like to be a friendly figure who they can confide in when struggling. The best thing about being a tutor is 100% the personal progression I witness each student go through. I regularly offer support and advice about the school experience as a whole, including university applications, exam/ revision techniques and essay writing I received a total of 41 points in the International Baccalaureate. Of this, i got 7/7 in Geography and wrote an EE (Extended Essay) within the subject of geography. In addition to being a successful student myself, I have experience tutoring a huge array of students of different capabilities and methods to learning, which makes me willing and capable to help anyone, no matter their background
