A bit about Sam R

Hi, I am an experienced primary school teacher with a BA in Childhood and Youth Studies, a PGCE in Primary Education and an MA in Education (Inclusive Practice). I have experience working within both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. With encouragement, demonstrations and appropriate challenges I will help individuals achieve their learning goals. I have been tutoring all subjects that are covered within the KS1 and KS2 National Curriculum. I have successfully prepared numerous children for key moments such as phonics Screenings, whereby as Phonics Curriculum Leader I Implemented a new phonics learning scheme, which produced an increase pass rate of around 5% year by year. I have also had extensive experience of preparing children for year 2 SATs, year 4 Multiplication Checks and Year 6 SATs. Getting to know children and helping them develop their confidence and understanding in relevant subjects. Children are given the opportunity to be heard and can be praised throughout their learning journey. There is no better feeling as a tutor than seeing that 'light bulb' moment in a students eyes and they can confidently say and demonstrate that they understand the subject. I decided to pursue a career in teaching after I had my first child. The urge to protect and encourage him to learn new concepts gave me a sense of accomplishment and I found it very warming. I then decided to work in a local nursery and support other children. From that I progressed my career into to teaching, gaining relevant qualifications and experience to provide individual children with support and guidance that will help them succeed. When I am not teaching I am a huge football fan (I won't say which team but a couple of clues are: 1. We have a lot of the Portuguese National team players. 2. We play in the Premier League. 3. We play in old gold and black.
