What is your teaching style?
When I teach English, I try and teach the rule behind the language. This is so that you can then use that rule to build your own sentences as you need them, because you remember "I need to start with who, next use 'like' (or likes), then say what they like to do", for example. I also make sure to give plenty of time for students to practice speaking and using the language.
