A bit about Liam

I have tutored for eight years now, having a broad and extensive knowledge, especially in my specialist area, allowing me to work with a range of ages and abilities from primary tutees to adults entering university and requiring understanding of A-level, core maths and further maths topics. From this, I believe I am very patient and always willing to listen to others therefore helping them to the best of my ability. I will also try and explain topics in a way that the student understands too. The most evident thing I have learned, with the numerous students I have dealt with, is, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a smile appear on student's face, especially when they may be working on something they struggle with. I graduated with a BSc (Hon) in OPTOMETRY from Aston university in 2015. Hence can help with guidance and tutoring in sciences. However, please be aware that priority comes with my specialist area of mathematics. I also enjoy playing electronic keyboard and piano as a hobby and have played for around 14+ years now. I also have a grade seven distinction from London college of music for electronic keyboard. I am therefore here to also help and guide students who require this as electronic keyboard / piano lessons-tutoring. I have a proven track record with high grades in my own education, especially in mathematics (A* at GCSE and A* at MEI exam-board A-level). I am also very passionate and enthusiastic with regards to tutoring and understanding mathematics (my specialist area), especially when it comes to students not only understanding the breadth of topics within mathematics but also having the confidence to ask WHY certain things are the way they are. Hence forming independent problem solvers which is an attribute that will always be in high demand! I believe with regards to mathematics, the subject should most certainly be taught with relationships linking topics together instead of teaching quick fix instruments creating a segmented approach to the subject, creating further complications of retaining the relevant information when being assessed, etc. I can confirm that for the last academic year of assessments all of my students who worked extremely hard (given the crisis we found our selves in) were rewarded with grades that not only achieved but also exceeded the predictions the schools/class teachers made as the final targets, of which I am very pleased but I must stress that the achievement has to go to them as they are the ones that have put both time and effort in to process and understand the topics. I am just the facilitator of learning, guiding and advising the key elements to the subject and hence guiding students along the correct path and also highlighting the many different avenues there may being in the same topic area!
