A bit about Clare C

I specialise in English, particularly GCSE and Essential Skills. With over 13 years of teaching English Language and Literature, I have had great results. A friendly and encouraging nature with a flair for making English interesting. Also specialises in supporting those with additional needs such as dyslexia. Qualified to degree level in English with a PGCE specialising in literacy. I am also qualified in Essential Skills delivery including Literacy, Numeracy, ESOL, and Digital Literacy. I am also continuing my professional development by training with the British Dyslexia Association with whom I am also a member. My philosophy is to ensure that learning can be an enjoyable experience and that everyone is capable of achievement. It is not about being compared to others but being the best you can be as an individual. Everyone is different, everyone learns differently and everyone deserves to be treated as such when they are learning. I find methods to relate to my students so they maintain their individuality, ensure their needs are met whilst ensuring achievement and progression. I was inspired by my English and Drama teachers who were excellent and role models for me, but I had a negative experience with my maths teachers and promised myself I wanted to make sure education was more positive than the experience I had. I also have a passion for supporting those with additional needs and helping people reach their potential. I am from the South Wales valleys and live with my husband and our little dog Eddie! I have two step children. I love reading, walking the dog and going to watch live music with my husband. I also love horror films!
