A bit about Stephen C

My name is Stephen Clarke. I am 62 years old and have been a teacher of English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, History, Geography, Art, Information Technology, SEN, Business Studies, Business Soft Skills, Customer Service Training, Sales Training - since 1983. I have lived worked and studied in Sweden, Germany, Italy, France, Spain and Sri Lanka as well as the UK throughout this past 38 years. I have taught and trained in primary and secondary schools, adult education colleges, universities-as well as banks, small/medium sized companies and multinational organisations. I have been the trainer and teacher on a lot of Zoom training courses, often over a 24 hour period too! After having finished a day's training in Germany, teaching English, a young participant in the group, came up to me and said "I'm so sorry, I really liked what you have been teaching us, but I still feel that I am utterly incapable of saying a single word of English" in English! - I took the time to point out to him, that his statement to me delivered in flawless English, immediately contradicted his utterance. He refused to believe what I was saying! This was not the only time people had come up to me and stated something similar - a product perhaps of education systems around the world that do not recognise achievement (or do not have the time to deal with the individual person)when they see or hear it, and let perfectly capable students out into the world with serious confidence issues.. This story always prompts me to send the message out to people everywhere who wish to learn and improve - that a sympathetic, understanding, professional teacher or trainer such as myself is there to teach and train, yes, but also to guide, to explore, to coach, to manage, to encourage, to motivate, to reassure, to help control situations, and to be kind patient and caring at all times!
