A bit about Teacher Homa

Hello, my name is Homa. I come from Kent in the UK and I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I live in Portugal and I am also learning to speak Portuguese. I love gardening and textiles and also teach art and crochet when I am not teaching English. I love cooking dishes from around the world, walking my dog, and growing plants. Mainly I work with my students to develop good study skills help them identify key assessment requirements to raise predicted grades, and help them achieve exam requirements and coursework support. I have experience working with students to identify specific curriculum assessment points in English and History, helping support students to focus on raising achievement in exams and coursework-related tasks. I also teach ESL students to develop speaking skills in English, learn and use new vocabulary, and gain confidence when forming sentences and paragraphs. I work with professionals and academics to help polish presentation skills and confidence for English use in professional environments. I am a qualified post-compulsory UK-trained teacher. I have an Advanced Certificate in Education D32 and D33 Assessor Certificate TEFL I love learning and have always been curious about the world around me. I think I started teaching to express the wonders of learning art....and naturally, it has led me to teach other subjects such as English with that same love for learning. I started as a regular classroom teacher teaching Art, Textiles, and Technology. I then taught humanities to cover colleague sickness and I eventually ended up as an online teacher and coach. I found that I enjoyed working with languages and I really enjoyed working online so about 5 years ago I left mainstream education and the real classroom for the virtual world.
