A bit about Susie W

KS3, GCSE, iGCSEs, A-level, Degree. All exam boards taught. All combos of English Lit, English Lang, Lit & Lang. Experienced with both GCSEs and iGCSEs. Exam marking means I know what I am talking about : ). I've also improved results across large school groups, so I know how to help with the trickiest bits and transition across years or stages. Students have said: 'your feedback was always transformative', 'you just know how to explain things more clearly', 'I never thought I would, but I actually love English now!' My teaching style is light and fun but very clear, with LOADS of examples (including handy diagrams), top tips you can use instantly, supported practice and personal feedback. I won't leave you hanging! I am a 10-years experienced teacher, expert tutor and poet. I absolutely love English, I find how people learn fascinating and I spend my time helping people overcome challenges with their learning. I have 3 MAs: English Lit & Lang (Oxford), Teaching (London), Creative Writing (MMU) with Distinction. Students typically improve by 2 grades working with me and enjoy it! Just don't get it? Let me help you out. Straight A* for a whole class in GCSE English Lang, inc. students predicted Cs and Bs. Straight As for a whole A-level English Lit class, inc. students with medical difficulties and SEND. Oxford English entrance for a severely dyslexic student. My first ever English Lang & Lit A-level tutee jumping from a D to 1% away from an A*. Nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2010. But what I'm most pround of is all my students who have ever said, 'Aha, now I get it!' and felt more confident about their own abilities.
