A bit about Catherine P

I have an integrated Master's degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Sheffield (a Russell Group university). I have carried out a range of training in tutoring online including lesson planning, safeguarding, inclusions and diversity, overcoming barriers, working with SEN. During my time as an undergraduate laboratory demonstrator in the Department of Biomedical science, I gained training in laboratory demonstration and encouraging critical thinking. At GCSE, I achieved six A* grades and 4 A grades. At A-level, I studied biology, chemistry and Physics. I was awarded a strong 2.1 for my 4-year integrated master's in Biomedical Science. If you have trouble understanding something and find it difficult, you just haven't figured it out yet. That 'yet' is very important! Allow yourself to surprise others and surpass your own expectations. I like to cover the required topic information, offering chances to ask any questions at any point. Then to go through example questions together, followed by more sample questions until you can tell me step by step how to approach those questions. I want you to become the teacher. I'll then give you some homework questions so that you can revisit the information. We can review any difficulties next time. I also like to discuss study and revision techniques. Let's work together to find out which methods work best for you so you can ace your exams and utilise your study skills for life. 1. Let's look at any homework questions from last time. What did you do well? What went wrong, can you correct it? Let me help you to identify your strengths and weaknesses so we can address them together. 2. New session content: theory or example of methods. 3. Example questions - we'll work through these step by step together. 4. More questions but this time you'll begin to take more of a lead until you can teach me! 5. To finish up, we'll summarise your progress highlighting what went well, discuss how you feel, discuss the topic for the next session and agree on your homework. I teach Key stage 3 and GCSE Maths. I also teach Key stage 3, GCSE and A-level biology, chemistry and physics. I’m happy to assist undergraduates studying for degrees aligned with biomedical science. I am familiar with the English education system, and the common exam boards: AQA, OCR and Edexcel. I love to volunteer in a community garden, raise awareness of health conditions using social media, and fundraise for great causes. I'm also learning Chinese - it is never too late to learn new things! I enjoy reading, walking and watching shows on Netflix.
