A bit about Miss S

I currently reside in Suffolk, UK, in my own apartment with my other-half and my energetic, gorgeous little house rabbit. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and I love exploring new places and learning about different cultures and history around the world. In my spare time I am an theatre actress, trained in acting and singing, a wildlife portrait artist and a university student earning my BA (Honours) in Classical Studies. I achieved my TEFL qualification in August 2020 and have since worked in the classroom in an English Language School working with 8-18 year olds and within a Primary school, predominantly in KS2. I love working with students of all ages and I am very eager to take on students of all levels as I am fully qualified. I am also able to run theory-based Drama study sessions, working on projects students may be studying at school or who are simply looking to improve their writing or acting skills for the subject. Currently, I am a stage actress and singer who has performed in numerous musicals and plays. I have studied Shakespeare, Theatre Studies at A-Level and achieved a RADA Shakespeare Award in 2019. I also earned a Drama Scholarship to study Drama for my A-Levels. My availability runs from 10:30 till 15:30 (GBT) Monday - Thursday and I am able to lead lessons for 1 - 2 hours. I use effective teaching plans and structures acquired from my TEFL training. This consists of useful learning techniques to help with speaking, writing and listening, fun and engaging conversations and focus on the tenses and grammar. I have always found teaching EFL to be relaxed, fun and purposeful. Being the primary spoken language across the globe, broadening your knowledge of the language, even if your level is intermediate, will only ever be beneficial. Becoming a fluent speaker can help in most careers, aid you in travel and is great for gloating about being bi-lingual! :) I also love learning about my student's own culture and how their language can compare, finding potential similarities or huge contrasts. I always find that aspect fun and important in creating a comfortable, light atmosphere. On the whole, my teaching style is very relaxed, yet productive. I take pride in providing a neutral environment for my students as I believe it helps with focus and engagement. I stick to a strict schedule for the sessions and I provide my students with the aims we intend to reach before the hour is up. My lessons are always catered to being fun, providing plenty of moments dedicated for discussion. I believe that visual learning is a must in when it comes to tutoring online, and I aim to add lots of colour, pictures and easily-understandable font and structure when sharing my screen with the students.
