A bit about Roshan V

Mathematics to me is like completing a jigsaw and has been a journey of self-discovery. I have experience and passion to promote my subject at all levels. Teaching Mathematics helps learners to think positively and equip them with key skills for use in life. I feel this has created a logical mindset, which I can use to help mentees improve their own problem-solving skills. I have a BSc in Mathematics & Computer Science and a Level 7 Teaching qualification (PGCE in Post 16 and Further Education). As part of my CPD (Continuing Professional Development), I am studying (part-time) towards an MSc in STEM Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. Having spent the last 12 years of my career within the teaching sector (primarily within South Yorkshire and in a variety of roles), I have worked with students from all types of backgrounds. I am especially empathetic to individuals possessing learning difficulties and can effectively help remove barriers to learning. As a dyslexic and autistic individual, I always found it challenging to learn when I was at school as these weren’t diagnosed until later in my life and I wasn’t able to benefit from the technology we have at our disposal today. I teach Mathematics at all levels from Year 6 right through to A-Level. I also teach Functional Skills in Mathematics. I centre my teaching around the student and tailor all lessons to their strengths. There is no greater sense of joy, than seeing a student who has struggled in a topic achieving their true potential.
