A bit about Maria E

I am a qualified, enthusiastic and patient native Spanish tutor who enjoys helping students to build their confidence in the language and in themselves. I have more than twenty years experience helping adults and children improving their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. I also prepare pupils for GCSE and I have helped at the local Grammar School with doing so. I have been teaching mature students in adult learning council courses for over fifteen years. Practice makes perfect and having fun whilst learning. I use a variety of different resources to make lessons as interactive and engaging as possible. I tailor and adapt each lesson to each student, his or her particular needs and pace. I have proven than anyone can learn, given the right encouragement, support and guidance. Some of my students have been with me for over ten years which shows how much they enjoy my lessons. One particular student started with no experience and is now above A level. A recent GCSE student achieved the highest grade possible. Some comments from parents are "María goes over and above to help her students achieve their full potential". Her pronunciation has come on in spades and her recent school test went very well". I love making language learning fun for children and adults and seeing how they apply grammar without realising. I enjoy seeing how adult learners become more confident and feel more secure understanding and conversing with locals when on holiday in Spain or South America and get far more from their travels. I have much experience in teaching mature students who just want fun, may want to communicate with foreign relatives, or just keep their brain active. It depends on the student's needs and goals. Most children need to learn specific vocabulary, verbs and grammar to pass their exams. Some adult learners may be more interested in conversation or written skills rather than a lot of grammar. The role plays are often lots of fun and we have a laugh! I started tutoring over twenty years ago. My teaching style is interactive, stimulating and encouraging. I believe you need to take one step at the time and make sure the foundations are strong to build upon. -Certificate in MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) Teacher Subject Specialism Training by Institute for Education and Bath Spa University. -Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status by Institute for Learning IFL. -Level 4 Certificate in Further Education Teaching - Stage 2 by City and Guilds.
