A bit about Miriam V

Languages and books have been an active part of my life ever since I was very young: not only would I beg my parents for new books after devouring the ones that "were to last me a little longer than the previous ones", by the age of 16 I could fluently speak 4 languages. When I decided to professionalise my love for literature by enrolling for an English degree, my goal was to work in academic research, until teaching happened. Still studying for my degree, I was casually offered to help the child of a family friend with his language studies, and without realising it, I discovered a new passion: teaching. To me, my job represents the power of helping others grow and fulfil their potential. Any success, any progress my students make, no matter how small, is what fuels my desire to continue developing as a teacher. Needless to say, reading is one of my biggest passions, but that is also accompanied by anything artsy: sewing, painting, dancing... name it and I will surely have tried it! My lessons are fully tailored to each student's learning style and needs, so no two lessons are the same! I constantly re-assess progress and engagement to ensure students can reach their maximum potential in each lesson. My core philosophy is to provide my students with a safe learning environment where they can thrive at a personal and educational level whilst promoting critical thinking and resilience. I believe that everyone deserves to feel cared for and have access to support and fair opportunities to build a better future for themselves and that it is for us, teachers, to help them make it possible I have experience teaching English Language and Literature for AQA, Pearson, Cambridge IGCSE and Eduqas. I also teach Spanish (KS4 to A-Level) and English as a Foreign Language (All ages and levels) I teach all KS3, KS4 and KS5 as well as Higher Education. I hold a BA in English Language and Literature, a PGCE in Secondary Language Teaching and a Level 5 TEFL certificate.
