A bit about Millie K

Hello! My name is Millie and I'm from Cheshire, United Kingdom. I graduated from Liverpool University with a BA Hons degree in English. I also completed the TEFL qualification which broadened my English skills even further. I love to read and write! I specialize in English. I have a BA Hons degree in English (literature). I completed a 120 hour TEFL qualification which focuses on English language. I love reading, writing, grammar and anything 'language' related! I started tutoring voluntarily whilst I was studying at University. I helped out in primary schools, gained experience in language schools and took part in summer schools. I then started tutoring online with various different companies. I think it's beneficial to first meet the students and discuss what will work best for them - I have learnt that everyone learns differently and one size definitely doesn't fit all. I like the student to feel comfortable with me - therefore they can quickly address any issues with ease. The thing I love the most about teaching English is witnessing the student make progress. It is very rewarding to see this. I also love delivering each lesson in a somewhat 'fun' way - I believe that the student will learn better if they are not bored to tears! I love to travel and meet new people and learn about different cultures. I have taught English in an international school in Istanbul, Turkey. I spent every second of free time seeing the sights of Istanbul and travelling to nearby places of interest. I have a BA Hons degree in English and a 120 hour TEFL qualification. I first was drawn to the idea of teaching English because I wanted to travel and live in different places. I also have an interest in meeting new people from different backgrounds and cultures. Mainly kindergarden in person / Adults online When I was working in Istanbul, I was working with very young children (sometimes as young as 20 months!). As you can imagine, it's very difficult to manage a class this young. However, the children started speaking English words very quickly and really enjoyed my 'fun' lessons! I think my kind, caring personality is something students love about me. I am very approachable and students always approach me with ease. I also create a sense of routine and structure to lessons, which helps to focus students. Also, I like to make the lessons as 'fun' as possible. I don't like to put too much pressure on students as I believe this can be very daunting and overwhelming. I think you should focus on enjoying the learning and classes and the learning process will happen naturally. I like to see the students progress, even if this is slowly over the course of a year. When you look back, it is such a great feeling to see how far they have come! I like to create a sense of routine and structure to my lessons so the students feel more comfortable and focused. They know what to expect. I also like to communicate with each student to ensure they are learning in the best way - I can quickly adapt to a style that suits them better.
