A bit about Laiba

Highly experienced with OCR and AQA exam boards for GCSE and A Level, having tutored students across a range of ages. Currently a 3rd year Law student at the University of Edinburgh, I have mastered the struggle of essay writing, learning how to formulate articulate and intelligent responses. I have experience in referencing all kinds of essays, and I am more than happy to pass these skills on to my tutees. I can also help with time management, how to attack complex readings, and methods of studying smart and effectively rather than studying for hours on end. These are some of the skills I instill into my students when we work together, which will not just help them in the present, but are skills which will help them in all aspects of life. As much as I believe content should be taught correctly, I also believe these skills are universal for all subjects. I have immense experience in tutoring a variety of subjects - as a result of lockdown I gained extensive experience in organising and planning for my lessons. I structure a lesson plan for all my tutees, so that we can keep track of their understanding and any gaps in their knowledge. I have immense experience in tutoring English for students aged 9-35+. I have tutored students who are professionals and foreign speakers. I have conducted group and one to one sessions with my students in English, History, Law, LNAT, and Psychology. I have had students starting at a very low level, who after our sessions have excelled immensely and achieved top grades. I have proven A* results in all fields that I teach. Sessions will be structured according to the needs of the student. I will begin with questioning their basic understanding of the subject, then will design a structure and mind-map to fit the student's requirements. This way I can keep track of any improvements and show them how they have developed from previous sessions. This will be intertwined with me providing feedback after every session so that they understand what they need to work on and what they have understood. I am happy to work on anything from essay writing to correcting grammar to helping with analytical methods. If you are studying a particular text that you need help with then with some notice I can easily make sure I have read it and will therefore be fully equipped to help you study it. I offer an astute and structured service in order to maximise your chances of success. I instill in all my students that studying hard is not the goal, but it is studying smart and effectively. I have had students who are foreign speakers who can now fluently speak, write and read English. For English Literature and Language from KS3 all the way to A Levels, my students have only excelled. I have helped many students with History exam technique, coursework and structure, and they have all achieved A*'s. My greatest successes is when I tutored an English GCSE student who came to me with a D grade, and her final GCSE result after our sessions was an A*.
